Credit Card Gift Cards

What is a Gift Card?
Throughout our lives we surely have presented situations in which we need to give away a gift for a special occasion (graduation, birthday, wedding, etc.) and we have enough to buy it or not choose it easier time. Then, in many cases we decided to replace the gift by an amount of money (to the amount you spend on gift) for the feted buy something they will enjoy. However, this does not guarantee that the money is not used for other purposes and the initial intent of the gift is lost.
Credit Card Gift Cards are the solution to the problem above by allowing substitute a gift of money but with the novelty that the beneficiary must spend in the business (shop, restaurant, etc.) which was acquired card. This will ensure that the person who receives money to buy a gift not be diverted for other purposes (such as expenses of day to day).

The procedure to acquire a gift card simple and is explained below:
1. You must select the store where the recipient can use the gift card.
2. Next, you must choose the model of the card (if possible).
3. Finally, head to one of the boxes from the store and ask to charge the amount of money you want to give to the card.
After the purchase of the card, you may be delivering the entertained for later use. Note that gift cards are a means of payment pre-paid type and in most cases they have recorded the payee name so if you were to lose, anyone could use it. Moreover, if the person receiving the card to buy a product whose value exceed that has been given, may use the card as payment and pay the difference with another payment method.
It is noteworthy that some malls create gift cards in association with the issuers of credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.) to allow can be use at any store that accepts credit cards or debit the logo of the company issuing the gift card. Figure 2 shows the model of this type of card.

In the context of the Internet, online stores have created a similar gift cards Gift Certificates concept called. The difference between these concepts lies basically in the area of use (Virtual or Real Stores) and the means for receiving (physically or via email).
Gift Certificates are purchased through an online store (following a procedure similar to gift cards) and the beneficiary will receive it in your email inbox. This will allow people to send gifts regardless of geographic location entertained (for example, a person who is in Venezuela can send a gift certificate -comprado in a virtual shop whose business scope is the same country where you live the beneficiario- to another person living in USA).


Gift Certificates may help us to resolve the situation described below: Imagine you want to buy a product through an online store and divide the amount between two credit cards but finds the unpleasant news that most Internet shopping is paid not allow more than one card. Then, with the help of gift certificates could resolve the situation as a credit card is used to purchase the certificate (whose beneficiary will be the same buyer) and then used as part payment by the other credit card . Thus, one could simulate being purchased in a virtual store with two credit cards.


We should mention that this article establishes the basic differences between Gift Cards and Gift Certificates from a conceptual point of view but in the real world could find that both concepts overlap to provide better facilities to the users of these types to finish product.
